Century livestock feeders are constructed of bull-tough polyethylene pipe and stainless steel hardware. Butt ends are joined by heat fusion, making them stronger than the pipe. Polyethylene is extremely durable; it flexes and bends and can absorb high impact loads over a wide variety of temperatures. It also is impregnated with finely divided carbon black, which protects the pipe from the degregation caused by the sun's ultaviolet light. The feeders carry a manufacturer's 7-year warranty, but are built to last for more than 50 years. They're so tough, in fact, they make perfect feeders for bison!
